Instructions and Help about Will Form 8655 Filings

Tax day is April 17th. The IRS recommends that American taxpayers file their taxes online and request their refund via direct deposit. We decided to compare the two most popular online tax filing systems to see which one is better. I interviewed Anya, who has already filled out her tax return using two different online filing services. I asked her what type of taxpayer she is and she said she is only filing one income this year. Last year, she had to file two incomes for her business insider internship and freelancing gig, which made it more complicated. She used H&R Block initially but found it confusing when it came to filing her freelancer income, so she switched to TurboTax, which was much easier for her. She believes that TurboTax is better for people with side projects and multiple sources of income. Both H&R Block and TurboTax have intuitive interfaces that guide users through the filing process. However, Anya found H&R Block to be more streamlined and intuitive compared to TurboTax. One drawback of TurboTax is that it constantly pushes users to upgrade to their paid services. On the other hand, H&R Block is less insistent and doesn't require users to set up an account right away. Anya noted that H&R Block had a more linear approach, while TurboTax allowed for jumping around. Ultimately, she recommends H&R Block for individuals who only have one income and don't need to worry about freelancing or side gig income. However, she will be using TurboTax again this year because she already has an account and is familiar with the interface. She suggests downloading the PDF of your tax return if you want to switch between the platforms in the future. I thanked Anya for doing her taxes early and sharing her insights.
