Welcome to Power BI Desktop for accountants. Yes, this is going to be an introduction to Power BI Desktop to build dashboards. Hey, this is the third video in the 2017 Washington Association of Accounts and Tax Preparers Tacoma Accounting Conference. Our first two videos are here, but our third video is going to be about Power BI Desktop. Now, if you've ever wondered what Power BI Desktop is, this is the video for you. We're going to cover all of these topics which will give you an introduction to all the different topics. We're going to have an introduction to Power BI Desktop, how to open and save a file, import and append multiple text files, clean data, import Excel tables, and we will see a bunch of DAX formulas including the DAX calendar table function to create a date table. We'll create calculated columns for a calendar table. We'll see the functions month format and year. We'll create relationships, create two different reports and dashboard across tabulated report. We'll see show values as in Power BI Desktop. We'll create this dashboard and over here we'll see how to create a DAX measure. And then, we'll see how to use column and bar charts as a slicer for our dashboard. We'll see the dashboard interactivity and then we'll add new data and see that everything updates.
