Instructions and Help about Which Form 8655 Printing

So you want to participate in the IRS's annual filing season program? That's great! Once you have an active preparer tax identification number or PTIN, obtained your continuing education credits, and taken the refresher course and test if required, you still have another step to take. Some preparers don't realize that one more action is necessary to officially be included in the program, which is consenting to the Circular 230 requirements. Now, don't worry, I'm here to help. I'll walk you through the steps to complete the consent online, as well as show you how to print out your annual filing season program record of completion. To begin, visit WWII.ARS.gov/p10 and click "Renew or Sign Up Now" on the IRS Tax Professional P10 System page. Enter your user ID and password. Here's a tip: if you've forgotten your user ID or password, simply use the links provided to retrieve them. Now, click "Sign In" to access your online PTIN account. Once you're logged in, you'll see your main menu. If you've met the requirements to be eligible for the annual filing season program, you'll see an open application for a FSP record of completion. Now, if you also see an open application under "Renew My P10," as in the example shown, complete that step first. Once renewed, go ahead and click to open the Circular 230 consent application. You'll see a consent screen asking you to abide by the rules in the Treasury Department's Circular 230, Subpart B, and Section 10.51. Read this closely. Then, when you're ready, complete the attestation by selecting "Yes" here. Next, you'll finish your consent by signing your application. Select "Yes" to state that you've read and agree to the statement on this page. Then, click "Submit." Congratulations! You've taken all the steps necessary to be in the annual filing...
