Hi, I'm Dan Herbert, a course developer and instructor at Point Blank. In this video, I'm going to give an overview of Form, the new native instrument included with Komplete 11. This tutorial video will give you a flavor of what you can expect on our music production courses in London, Los Angeles, and online. Find out more about our courses at pointblankmusicschool.com. Form is a hybrid synth that uses samples as the basis for its main oscillator. It works by analyzing and resynthesizing these samples and features a variety of waveform controls. In addition, it integrates FM and subtractive synthesis. Form is great for a range of sound design applications and can be used in many different ways. It can produce glitchy, evolving, textual sounds, as well as conventional sounds. It can be used as a sound design tool to manipulate existing samples or as a powerful synthesizer with extensive modulation and sound mangling possibilities. If you've ever played with the powerful time stretching modes in Kontakt or pushed the limits of warping in Ableton or Logic, then you'll know the kind of cool futuristic textures that can be achieved. But the impressive thing about Form is that it's easy to create and manipulate these types of sounds live. Now, let's talk about the interface. We have the Form oscillator, which requires a sample to be loaded. Beneath that, there's an additional oscillator that can track the pitch of the loaded sample and also serves as the modulator source for the FM synth. There are various parameters that can seriously manipulate and distort the sound, such as orbits and multiply. To the right, we have the modulation section with familiar envelopes and LFOs. We can also combine different modulation sources together. It's easy to assign these modulation sources to any parameters. Just click...
