But, when you take a closer look at the industry, you realize that the majority of these watch brands are only owned by a handful of companies. Hi everyone, Teddie Balthasar here, and in this video, we're going to be looking at the breakdown of the watch industry and the few companies that own pretty much all of the watch brands on the market. I think this is an incredibly important topic to cover because if you're trying to be the most informed buyer that you can be, you're going to want to know the hierarchy and structure of the watch industry as a whole. So, let's jump into the video. Alright guys, as I mentioned, there are just a few groups in the entire watch industry that own the majority of the companies. I'm going to go through one by one some of the most notable names and the companies that are under their umbrella. Then, I'll go through some privately owned companies and some less known groups, as well as some privately owned watch brands. I'd love for you guys to guess a couple of watch brands that are solo or only owned by themselves, with no subsidiary structure underneath them. First up, we have the LVMH group. This is the largest luxury goods company in the world, with $49.6 billion in total revenue in 2017 alone, a 13 percent increase over the previous year. When it comes to watches, though, it's just a small fraction of that.
