Hi everybody, this is Leanne from Style School. Today, I want to teach you how to use your sewing machine. My machine is a Singer Advance and I really like it because it's well-designed and not overly complicated. They've even added a diagram on the machine showing how to thread it. Now, let me show you the parts of my machine so you can compare it with yours. First, this is where your spool will go - the big one. Sometimes machines come with a small coin-sized device to keep the spool from flying off while the machine runs. Then, we have the bobbin winder located here. I'll show you how to transfer the thread onto it later. Next, we have the component where the thread goes through - the presser foot. Moving on, we have the needle with a small hole, and the bobbin goes in here. Mine goes in this way, but sometimes machines have a slide thing. Each machine is a little different. My machine also has a compartment for gadgets. On the side, we have all the stitches the machine can do. My machine has buttons, but yours might have knobs or toggle switches along here. There's also a stitch guide that allows you to change the width of the stitches. I'm not entirely sure what that does, but I think it's a four-button function. On the side of the machine, there's the handle. As you turn it, the needle goes up and down. This is how you can back up your stitch or lift the needle when it stops inside. Down the cord, you have a power button and a power cord. Oopsie,...
