Hello, beautiful people! Welcome back to Royalty Soaps. My name is Katie, and today we are going to be making Mermaid Treasure. In this container, I have a bunch of melted oils, including coconut oil, olive oil, organic Fairtrade palm oil, sweet almond oil, and castor oil. They are all at room temperature. In this other container, I have sodium hydroxide, also known as lye, mixed with water. When we blend all of these ingredients together, it creates soap. For those of you who are new or have no intention of making soap, the first step is to pour the lye water solution into the oils. It's important to wear gloves because lye can be dangerous and cause burns. However, after the soap has gone through the chemical change, the lye is no longer present. If you're interested in learning more about the technical details of soap making, I will leave some information down below about websites like Modern Soap Making and Lovin Soap. Now, let's blend the mixture using a stick blender until the soap looks a little runny but still holds together in a nice pudding texture. We want the soap to be somewhat thin, as it will make blending the colors easier. After blending, I will pour my first color, which is a blue oxide or ultramarine blue into the soap.
