Music. Hello, this is Ruchika and in this video, we are going to learn about the IELTS format. IELTS is the International English Language Testing System. It evaluates your English based on receptive and productive skills. The receptive skills include listening and reading, while the productive skills include writing and speaking. There are two categories of IELTS: general and academic. The general test needs to be taken by people who are moving to English-speaking countries for the purpose of PR or jobs. On the other hand, the academic test needs to be taken by people who are moving to English-speaking countries for the purpose of higher studies or any other course. However, please check which exam you are supposed to take before you register for the exam. Now, let's talk about the test timings. The listening test, which is your first test, will be for 40 minutes. The reading test will be for 60 minutes, the writing test will also be for 60 minutes, and the speaking test will be for 11 to 14 minutes. The listening, reading, and writing tests will take place on one day, back-to-back, for a total of two hours and 40 minutes. There will be no break in between these tests. The speaking test, on the other hand, will take place either on the same day or within 7 days before or after the listening, reading, and writing tests. The schedule for the speaking test will depend on the candidate's registration with either IDP or British Council. Let's start with the listening test. It will have four sections in the order of difficulty, with the first section being the easiest and the fourth section being the most difficult.
