Hello fabulous DIYers! It's dinner table here with a redesign your clothes tutorial. In this episode, I'm going to show you how to sew a one-shoulder lace-up cape gown. So let's get started! In the last episode, I took you fabric shopping with me. We were looking for fabric that was under $5. If you haven't seen that episode, you can find the link above or in the description. I ended up getting four yards of this soft and flowy apricot polyester. It feels like China silk, but it's actually more like organza. I also bought a 9-inch invisible zipper, but I've decided not to use it because I found this cord at my local 99-cent store. It's two yards long and only cost a dollar. For this project, I'll be working with muslin fabric. I'll need about a yard or two. And of course, I'll be using my useful tools such as a ruler, pattern paper, and scissors. All the information about these tools will be in the description below. Now, let's talk about the pattern. I'll be using my shift dress pattern for this project. I've already draped and created a pattern out of it before. I'll link the videos for you to create this pattern yourself. Once I put all the pattern pieces together, I'll meet you back at the dress form. Here we are! I've used my shift dress pattern to create a complete dress that matches my measurements. I like using this pattern as a base so I don't have to start from scratch. It saves me time and effort. On the front of the dress, I've decided to do a one-shoulder style.
